Nothing ages the skin faster than daily exposure to sunlight. While wrinkles, fine lines and dark spots are unavoidable as we age, most of the visible signs of aging are caused by daily exposure to UV rays and can be prevented simply by applying sunscreen every day. Now, with the introduction of its newest innovation CellCeuticals® Biomedical Skin Treatments provides extreme anti-aging protection for any skin that sees the light of day. Introducing PhotoDefense™Anti-PhotoAging Daily Skin Protector SPF 55+/PA+++ from CellCeuticals, an ultra-light hydrating daily use formula for the face that helps combat premature skin aging and reverse the signs of aging while providing broad spectrum protection against the sun’s harmful rays.
In recent years, scientists have identified oxidation and glycation as two contributing causes of skin aging. The process of oxidation begins when free radicals, which are caused by external aggressors such as sun exposure trigger the rapid production of Reactive Oxidative Species (ROS), which in turns leads to cell damage. In the process of glycation, sugar that is naturally present in the skin adheres to collagen and elastin fibers, causing them to stiffen. With time, these sugar molecules create Advanced Glycation End Products (AGE), or rigid bridges between fibers, causing the skin to lose its elasticity and wrinkles to set in.
To fight both of these causes of aging while also protecting against the sun’s harmful rays, PhotoDefense contains patent pending Photoplex, a photostable complex with exclusive Cellular Excited Energy Quenchers (EEQ) Technology™. Photoplex combats both UVA/UVB radiation and quenches BOTH reactive oxidative species (ROS) and advanced glycation end products (AGE). PhotoDefense is also fortified with a powerful Auto-Defense System and Vitamin D to help strengthen the skin’s natural defenses.
In the U.S., the SPF on a sunscreen lotion is used to identify the product’s ability to block UVB radiation. While both UVA and UVB radiation are extremely harmful and can lead to skin cancer, UVA radiation has been identified as the main culprit in skin aging. A U.S. standard for identifying a product’s UVA protection is still pending approval by the FDA, but in Asia, the PA (Protection Grade of UVA) has become commonly used. There are 3 PA grades: PA+, PA++, and PA+++, with each additional plus (+) indicating a higher protection. According this scale, PhotoDefense, with its PA+++ rating, boasts the highest possible level of protection against the sun’s aging UVA rays, along with an SPF of 55+.
“We’re excited about the new patent pending Photoplex with Cellular EEQ Technology that we’ve been able to incorporate into this product in order to make it both photostable and able to quench excited energy species,” said Paul Premo, co-founder and CEO, CellCeuticals. “Many other sun protection products that contain avobenzone as a UV filter are unstable and therefore degrade in sunlight, but with PhotoDefense, we were able to develop a proprietary combination of screening agents that give the product photostability.”
In addition, the PhotoDefense has been carefully formulated and undergone rigorous testing to substantiate both product performance and safety.
