Field of Flowers: Bond No. 9 The Scent of Peace
Bond No. 9 released the Scent of Peace to represent the ideal neighborhood we'd all like to live in. Both the fragrance and flacon were designed with peace in mind. The fragrance itself is a light, clean, citrus-floral. The flacon is a translucent lavender decorated with a dove, the international symbol of peace, and one of the prettiest flacons from Bond.
The scent itself is ethereal and light but long lasting. The fragrance starts with grapefruit and black currant, with a heart of lily of the valley and hedione, and anchored by cedarwood and musk. Even with a solid base the Scent of Peace never becomes overpowering and thus is an excellent office environment or summer choice.
The Scent of Peace is closest to New York Fling in terms of fragrance type but the Scent of Peace is less effervescent and floral. More people like the Scent of Peace for exactly those reasons. The Scent of Peace is cleaner and crisper than New York Fling. It is closer to Gramercy Park in terms of being a light fragrance that still has staying power.
I purchased the Scent of Peace when it was released in 2006 and it's one of the Bonds I reach for more often than not. The Nose who created it is none other than Michael Almairac who created most of my favorite Bond perfumes. Both the small and large bottle bear the dove in flight motif. Back in 2006, Bond donated $2 for every bottle sold to Unicef. I'm not certain this is still continuing but I certainly hope so.
