BOSTON DESIGNERS DEBUT IN EXCLUSIVE RETAIL CONCEPT: Faneuil Hall Marketplace Opens Local Collection, May 1

Local fashion and home designers and artists are about to rock Boston with the debut of a one-of-a-kind retail concept at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Changing the landscape of designer retail, Local Collection will open their second location on May 1, 2010 in the South Market Building of Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The boutique will showcase apparel, accessories, jewelry and home décor from today’s emerging “local” Boston area designers.  Local Collection is a unique retail consignment boutique introducing the eclectic works of such fashion trendsetters to mainstream consumers.

Inspiring an amazing mix of apparel, accessories, jewelry and home décor, Local Collection enables an exclusive opportunity for these local fashionistas to promote and establish their new brands.  The strategy behind Local Collection is to offer designs that are not mass-produced.  Local Collection is a first time collaboration between local designers and a regional shopping center.  The goal of the store is to provide a refreshing retail alternative with an evolving mix of designs and products that engage and invite interaction.

“Local Collection provides local designers and artists the chance to shine and start a retail business without the up front costs of owning their own store, while at the same time providing a unique retail concept to the Marketplace and its visitors” says Rebecca Stoddard, Marketing Manager at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Nearly 30 designers will be launch the opening of the store: Ducci Designs (women’s apparel and accessories), Genevieve Boston (handbags), Ideologie Organic(silk-screened organic tees), Sweet Tots (baby UV apparel), Threla (handmade body and skin treatments), Iris Quilts (handpainted quilts), Jennaca Davies Design Studio (metal jewelry), Maggie Carberry (jewelry and art), just to name a few.
